Book II · The Martial Age
The Quest
for I-Ching
A duel won. A rival poisoned. A teaching stolen.
New martial story in developmentBy Lim Boon Chuan · Updated
Winning was supposed to end it.
Mali answers a visiting sect's challenge at the yard where she learned to fight. She wins fairly. Then a concealed dart strikes her defeated opponent, a wounded courier collapses at the gate, and someone escapes with the teachings he was carrying.
Her rival is now the witness she must keep alive. The search for help takes her through feuding schools, guarded roads and dangerous bargains, while the stolen inheritance draws masters with reasons of their own to keep its history buried.
From Book I's aftermath
The first heroes fractured the signal, but did not destroy it. Three thousand years later, the world has built new ways to live and fight among the consequences. A mark associated with Sel's Codex connects Mali's immediate struggle to that unfinished history.
This is a sequel, not a restart of Book I. Its story begins with people who have their own ambitions and enemies; no knowledge of the game is needed.
The martial world
Sects and masters guard fighting forms, weapon traditions and secret arts. Eagle talons and dragon claws can reveal a lineage, but recognisable movement can also be copied. Concealed darts, invented poisons and uncertain antidotes make survival a different question from winning a match.
The Quest for I-Ching grows through that martial inheritance. Starfall's imagined commentaries and supernatural teachings are fiction—not claims that a historical Chinese text is missing a secret final hexagram.
