Panel 1
Vara emerges from the rear doorway carrying an unlit evening lamp. Mali looks up and catches her teacher’s eye.
Vara: You’re late.
Mali: I see you’ve found a replacement.
Panel 2
Vara places the lamp on the low wall between Mali and Teren. Mali and Neri sit to one side; Neri’s injured right arm stays in its sling. Teren waits calmly beyond the wall.
Vara: The Hall has offered to take responsibility for our instruction.
Panel 3
Teren inclines his head in a formal bow, one hand over his chest. His dark sleeveless tunic carries the gold eagle motif.
Teren: Teren. Inner court of Eagle-Talon Hall.
Panel 4
Mali answers with a dry little smile. Behind her, a young woman holds a hand over her mouth while Vara glances sideways. Mali’s sabre remains sheathed at her left hip.
Mali: Mali. This court.
